How do I get my business to show up on Google and on their map?

When you type in my business name and city into Google, it pops up right on top of the list. However, when you just type in “cupcakes Kentwood, MI”, it pops up the map and some business names, and mine doesn’t come up. I’ve entered my address into the Google profile, but I don’t know what I’m missing. I’ve heard I have to pay for Google AdWords, that I have to have my business listed in the yellow pages, etc. but I’m not so sure where to go next. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
