Google Adwords CPC Min has gone underground. Inactive Keywords Alive and Well
First page have min CPC version, for all intents and purposes.
Read and cry …
Visit the original ppc Blog article on this topic, see to the screenshots.
Google Adwords has announced that all keywords are now constantly active, and they indeed do so actively in our reports and show in status column in the Keywords tab "page, even with ridiculously low maximum CPC bids.
The was our dream, right? to never again have to worry about inactive keywords "going"?
Well, folks, this is just theory. The recent Quality Score Updates do not tell the whole story. Follow me now and you know the whole truth …
The Status column in fact always says Keywords active, but it is not true. We see our first track with this message: "Money is below the initial estimate of bid-side …"
Now float on the "Ad Diagnostic Tool" icon, the magnifying glass, and we see this screen in the Keyword Analysis page:
1st Keyword is not triggering ad, despite the fact that "active".
2nd Reason: "current bid is too low to be competitive," although QS Great (4)
3rd Details & recommendations, next. Can you guess what are the recommendations?
Your bid is "not competitive" and they may "rarely" trigger ads.
I mean really translate it:
"Non competitive" = inactive to search
"Rarely" = Almost never
Now we look at the last component on the Keyword Analysis page, which details & recommendations (# 3) …
What can you do? Increase your bid? Why do I need to increase my bid? To the "competitiveness" enough to my ad ? Trigger If you will recall, I manually checked and double saw that my ad was studay in this case in fact does not appear at all, with only 5 advertisers, eg. only half page ads.
Have not we said that there is no such thing as inactive keywords?
Did we celebrate too early?
Was this is just an illusion maneuver? Why we were told that words would go all the time?
To make matter worse, there is no way this Statistics in reports or in See editor only on the Web interface on the kw-level to the keyword analysis tool, keyword by keyword. This is incredibly impractical, to put it mildly.
This is a serious setback for the advertisers, that min CPC was abolished, only now discover that they live and well thought out, and hides, for all intents and purposes.
Currently, the best way to avoid your keywords from "is inactive" is to assist the "First page bid" recommendation or top priority. I wonder who these services, advertisers or Adwords?
This is not as beautiful as in this particular Case study, there were only five advertisers, of which three have not even relevant to sushi, where our PPC advertising Customer keyword was "not competitive", although a great quality score.
So, tell me … Tags are always active?
I do not think that does AdWords Team "min First Page Bids" of the CPC replace field, in practice?
Perhaps min CPC should be resumed, in addition to the first page bids, or keywords that are listed as active in the Status column kw, should really be active and not camouflaged behind several screens keyword analysis!
Following is a genuine chat, which i just finished, I removed the name of the chat AdWords specialists. ..
Support: What can I help you today?
Dan: I have a question Re: Ads Diagnostic Tool
Dan: Keyword Analysis on the page …
Dan: where the message says: Ad not shown …
Dan is doing: this will usually mean appear not at all, or not, on page one?
Dan: I was told one side, but that is not in the specified message.
Support: If the Keyword Analysis page will inform you that the ad is not shown, is to provide each other messaging down you say why the ad will not run?
Dan: yes
Dan: great quality factor
Dan: The bid is too low to be competitive be
Dan: first page is not displayed, or at all?
Support: not actually look at the Keyword Analysis Tool right now and judging on what you say, if The program says that the ad will not run, then the ad will not run.
Dan: Yes, I manually verified that double. It was not to show all.
Dan: Although only 5 ads on the SERPs page I checked
Dan: I just never would have become key words, inactive since the new update?
Dan: first, the keyword shows how active tab in the keyword …
Dan: Only when I click on the tool to dig the details and screen, I see that the keyword will not trigger ad …
Dan: How is it compatible with kw is "active"?
Dan: In the past, if kw min CPC bid was below threshold … kw showed as "inactive" …
Support: The keyword is active, but the quality score and CPC still needs to exceed a threshold for the keyword an ad auction in force.
dan: What you have just said, sounds like double talk. kw is either active or inactive.
Support: Yes, you should keyword analysis Page in the justification, if your ad is not accrue any impressions in your account.
Dan: This is not a practical solution, ESP, if an account has tens of thousands Thousands of keywords …
Support: Here is an article from our Help Center, which goes into more detail on this subject:
Support for removing inactive search
Dan: I have read this page …
Dan: But the paradox still holds …
Dan: It is now impossible offerings to en masse.
Dan: It was much more logical, in the past when we could know which KWS were inactive over editor or kw reports.
Dan: This new situation creates a large Obstacle for advertisers to precisely adjust your bids.
Support: With the old system, when the keyword was inactive for search, the keyword would never be entered in the auction. With the new system for keywords, a keyword, come up for auction for a search query and not for others.
Dan: I understand that it is a dynamic system is more … but …
Dan: the problem persists.
Dan: If I set a price to 1 cent, and the kw is called "active", but in reality it is listed "rare" grown impressions …
Dan: What is the value "active" status for the advertising industry?
Support: It would depend on whether it meets the threshold for each auction.
Dan: exactly
Dan: at 1 percent would probably it "rarely" if ever meet the threshold. something of value is the "active" kw-status?
Dan does: it is impossible to effectively manage low offers
Support: The value of this status is that if the keyword meets the above threshold, then it would go in the auction ad for that keyword displayed.
Dan: It was proposed to delete my active keywords that no impressions accumulated in the last two weeks …
Dan: If I followed this advice Now …
Dan: I would probably delete keywords that are truly "inactive" even though they are listed as "active"
Dan: that was not very smart would it be?
Dan: Another reason for the status "active" again.
Dan use: why not both fields … First page Min CPC bids and field?
Support: I would say that with the new system, when you see that your keywords have no impressions, it might make sense accrued be looking at this keyword to see if you change or delete the keyword you need from your list.
Dan: totally impractical. I manage accounts with 100,000 keywords, which is not unusual for professional Client Manager.
Dan: The new system is "defective"
Support: Dan, I would like to pass on this feedback to the team.
Dan: Thank you
Dan: I am happy to assist in the improvement of the system
Support: Since this system is introduced, the team is feedback from our advertisers on these issues.
Conclusion: inactive for the search is alive and well.
